Some places you visit. Others change you forever.
For years, I travelled around the world, discovering new countries, cultures and ways of life. I loved the journey, but deep down I was always searching for something more — a place where I could slow down, feel free and truly belong.
I found that place on Koh Rong, Cambodia.
There is something special about island life. The rhythm of the ocean, the tropical nature, the simplicity, the people you meet along the way — and the feeling that no two days are ever quite the same.
What began as my dream destination gradually became my home and my way of life.
The ocean quickly became a huge part of that life. As a Divemaster, I have the privilege of introducing people to a world that still fascinates me every time I enter the water.
And for me, diving is about much more than what we see underwater.
It’s about that first moment beneath the surface when everything becomes quiet. It’s about curiosity, confidence, trust and discovering a world completely different from the one we know on land.
One of my favourite moments is seeing the expression on someone’s face after an unforgettable dive — because I know exactly how that feeling can stay with you.
Adventure has always been part of who I am. I’m also a ski instructor, and I love cycling and dancing. Whether I’m beneath the surface of the ocean, on a mountain or exploring somewhere new, I’m happiest when life involves movement, freedom and a little bit of adventure.
But perhaps the most interesting part of travelling has always been people.
I love meeting people from different corners of the world, hearing their stories and discovering their cultures. Working on Koh Rong means that the world somehow comes to our little island every day.
Some people stay for a few hours, some for weeks, and some arrive thinking they are simply going on holiday…
and leave with memories they will carry for the rest of their lives.
Since 1999, I’ve been happily married to Arthur, a dive instructor and my partner in life and adventure. Through the years we have shared countless experiences, travels and, of course, a love for the underwater world. I’m also a very proud mother of a wonderful son.
After travelling so far and seeing so many places, I’ve learned something surprisingly simple:
Paradise isn’t always the most beautiful place you discover.
Sometimes, it’s simply the place where you finally feel at home.
For me, that place is Koh Rong. ????????
